STUDY TOUR 4: Vienna - Koralpe - St.Paul - Ljubljana - Trieste - Lipica - Bled - Vienna
Departure from Vienna and transfer to Koralpe. There we will visit the dam Soboth, surrounded by a densely wooded landscape. Transfer to St. Paul monastery in Lavanttal, which was founded in 1091. Then, transfer to Fala hydropower plant, the oldest hydropower plant on the river Drava – it celebrated the 100th anniversary of operation this year. After that, transfer to the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, where we will be accommodated the next two days.
Excursion to Trieste, the elegant Italian city at the Mediterranean Sea, where we will experience the glorious past of "Little Vienna by the Sea" and the present cosmopolitan city. Optional visit of the Miramare castle. After lunch buffet in Lipica, we have a guided tour at the oldest European stud farm Lipica. Then, transfer to Sezana with dinner in the karst lands. After dinner transfer back to Ljubljana.
Technical excursion to dam and hydropower plant Brezice. This run-of-river power plant is the last constructed in Slovenia. The 47.4 MW HPP Brezice is the fifth in the chain of six hydroelectric power plants on the lower Sava river. Then, lunch at wonderful Otocec Castle. After lunch, transfer back to Ljubljana, followed by a city tour through the historic city - enjoy the afternoon by exploring Ljubljana on your own.
Leaving the capital of Slovenia in the morning for technical excursions of dams and hydropower plants Moste and Zavrsnica. The lunch will be at Vila Preseren, a restaurant next to Bled Lake. After that free time at Bled and afterwards continue to Vienna. Arrival in Vienna in the evening.
Minimum participation of 20 persons needed – 8 weeks prior the organizer can cancel and offer instead an alternative tour or send a refund. Delegates will be informed immediately if this happens.
